LCF Post-Secondary Scholarship Fund Winner

It is with great pride that we were able to offer, for the first time, a Lohana Charitable Foundation Post-Secondary Scholarship. Our recipient this year was Sahil Radia and we are proud to have him as our first winner. Sahil has certainly earned this recognition through his scholastic efforts, but also through his community involvement and we hope to see more of the same from our Lohana Youth. Congratulations Sahil!

We would like to also thank Member of Provincial Parliament Charles Sousa for verifying the results of our scholarship process and being on hand at the Diwali Dinner this year to present the award. We look forward to continuing our scholarship program next year and in years to come.

LCF Post-Secondary Scholarship Fund

The new scholarship fund has been launched with a $2500 award being issued to the selected candidate. The award will be granted to the student with the best academic average over the last two years of their high school careers. This award may be used towards tuition of any post secondary institution.

We are very pleased to be able to announce that funding for this project has been secured for the next two years, with plans in the works to expand this into a more fully featured scholarship fund that includes needs based bursaries.

The Scholarship Committee responsible for this project was chaired by Sona Jethwa and consisted of Bimal Lakhani and Bella Karia.

Funeral Committee

It has been a very sad start to the year, with many members of our community passing on.

Through this sadness we have also witnessed one of the great strengths of our community and that is our funeral committee and the work that they do.

Of course, there is no way to prepare for such an occurrence, but the funeral committee has always done their part to ensure that the families are taken care of during their time of grief. As a committee we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Kamleshbhai Thakrar, Sureshbhai Thakrar, Kantibhai Raja, Ashokbhai Thakrar and Vipinbhai Mithia for their tireless work in these times of tragedy.

As a community we should be proud to have these committed members who are always there to help in our times of need.
